Immigration
Overview
Immigration Law determines whether a person has the legal right to stay, live and work within a country. The law in this area will specify who may enter a country, how long they may stay and when they must leave. Furthermore, it regulates the legal rights, duties, and obligations of foreign nationals within that country. Immigration law also sets out how foreign nationals can become naturalized citizens with full rights.
Leave to enter
Leave to enter can be obtained for a limited period and it may be under the following conditions (Immigration Rules UK Paragraph 8):
- Restriction on employment/occupation in the UK
- Requirement to maintain and accommodate himself, and any dependents, without a claim on public funds
- Requirement to register with the police
- Restriction on study in the UK
