Environment Law
Overview
Environmental Law in the UK is the body that addresses climate change, pollution and wildlife. Examples of matters covered by Environment Law include noise and air pollution, flooding, fly tipping and fracking.
The Environment Act of 1995 is the latest Environment Act that the UK government passed. The Act created the Environment Agency, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and the National Park Authorities.
Environment Law also has a significant amount of international involvement. The Paris Agreement of 2015 and the Copenhagen Conference of 2009 are two examples of international environment agreements for countries to meet certain targets.
Furthermore, the UK has also adopted many environmental laws from the European Union. This includes the 1976 Bathing Water Directive, which has been linked keeping the UK's beaches clean.
